How has everyone’s week been going so far? Tomorrow is already Friday! Ever since I started my new job the weeks fly by. I can’t believe I have already been there for a month. I’ve been so busy that I need to remind myself to slow down sometimes. Does anyone else ever feel like this? Ayy yi yi. Anyway, my week has been pretty wonderful so far for a few reasons.

1. Sweets. I’ve had quite a few of them this week. At an event on Monday there was a brownie sundae bar, I bought a bag of candy corn, my mom baked zucchini bread, and I baked blondies. Consuming all those sweets throughout the week probably wasn’t the absolute best decision, but I enjoyed it at the time and it helped this week be wonderful so WHATEVER!

2. New TV show premieres. Last night was Modern Family and the night before was New Girl. I love both of these shows so much. If I had to pick which one I liked more I’m not sure I could so please don’t ask me to. I don’t think I have ever watched an episode of New Girl without laughing out loud at least once. Just looking at Schmidt makes me laugh. If you aren’t already watching this show, you totally should be.









3. My boss taking me out for a delicious breakfast this morning. Going out to breakfast before a work day reminded me of being in high school. My dad would sometimes take my sister and I to breakfast and then drop us off at school. It feels like forever ago that we did that, but it was always a great start to the day and a special father and daughter thing. I must remind him of this so we can make it happen again!

4. Tonight I get to meet up with a friend who has been off working for our sorority on a national level. I’m so happy she is back in town for the week and I can’t wait to catch up! Plus, I think we will be getting froyo so it’s a win, win. Catching up with a friend over ice cream, what could be better?

Of course, not everything has been fabulous this week, but I’m trying to focus on the positive.  What is making you smile this week?



Happy Work it out Wednesday!!! How has everyone’s exercise been going this week so far? Taking it easy? Working harder? I have to admit that I have remained pretty constant lately with my work outs. I definitely don’t think that is a bad thing, but I don’t think it is necessarily good either. I need to push myself a little bit harder sometimes, I always feel better when I do. I think I know the way I am going to get out of that rut…train for my first half marathon!

My sister has been pushing me to do one with her for a while, and after building up my distance a bit lately I am ready to stop thinking about it and just sign up and do it. I think having a goal in place will push me during my work outs instead of just going through the motions.

I still need to do some research and see which training plan I would like to follow.  The furthest I have run has been 6 miles, so it is definitely not going to be easy for me. To be honest, running 1 mile isn’t easy for me. That’s why I’m starting to really enjoy running, because every time I finish I feel like I’ve accomplished a great work out.

Crap, now that I’ve posted about this I HAVE to make it happen. Who out there is working towards a specific fitness goal? If you are a runner, what are the things you can’t run with out? Music, garmin, water, headband? All tips are welcome!!

College Game Days

Last weekend I went to my first UCF game/tailgate of the season.  I still can’t decide if I love tailgates or hate them.  Well, I guess it’s safe to say there are parts I love and parts I can’t stand.  The major thing that is a downer when it comes to tailgates in Orlando is the weather. In my opinion, football needs to be played in temperatures no higher than 70 degrees. Luke warm beer and sweaty faces are not a winning combination. The football season should start based off temperatures not off the calendar. I’m sure there is a way this could be worked out. It’s tough out there, I’m sure it’s almost as difficult for the players too, but not quite. I do love all the excitement on campus and being on campus in general, I miss it!

When it comes to watching the actual game, I never really watch much of it. I try SO hard to, I really do, but somehow my interest always fades. All of the sudden the crowd starts cheering and I realize I have no idea what happened because I was too busy trying to hear what the group in front of me is chatting about, or watching the cheerleaders, or trying to pick out the most wasted person in the crowd. That is where the real entertainment lies.

Anyway, the knights won, whoohooo! And it was a fun day of cheering, complaining, and people watching.

What do you love and hate about going to games?

On a side note, I broke down and bought my first bag of Candy Corn of the season. I held off for a little, but I knew it was going to happen at some point or another. I actually hated candy corn until some amazing  lady introduced me to a seriously delicious combination. Peanuts + candy corn. If you have yet to have this combination, go to the store right now and get the two essential ingredients, mix ‘em up in a bowl and grab a handful. It tastes like a candy bar. You’re welcome.

Work It Out Wednesday

Happy Hump Day! Did anyone work out yet?  If you all are anything like me getting your butt to the gym isn’t always easy, especially in the middle of the week. In comes Work It Out Wednesday, a time to share weekly work-outs and motivation.  Seeing other people’s work outs and sweatiness always gives me a little extra push in the right direction. So let’s get to it!

This week I have completed a few great work-outs. Monday I did a 4 mile run on the treadmill. I cannot wait until it is cool enough to go for a run outside. That type of weather actually makes me want to run, and that my friends is a rare beautiful thing. Who knows when that will be, though.

Tuesday I did an easy(ish) 30 minutes on the elliptical and a hellish 10 minutes on the Stairmaster. I still have not been able to tackle the Stairmaster for more than 10 minutes without feeling like I am going to pass out. Does anyone actually enjoy the Stairmaster? I would really love to know. Anyway, today my day is jam-packed with fun work activities, so I just did a quick 20 minute Jillian Michaels DVD.

The rest of the week I am hoping to complete another run and do some yoga. I am so bad about stretching and I need to desperately I tell you!!!

Reliving the Weekend

Nothing was too exciting over here this past weekend. Sometimes that is good though, don’t you agree? I always feel more rested and ready for the week ahead if I’m not go-go-go all weekend long.

Friday night I got to meet up with two of my sorority friends. They are younger so they got me up to date on everything that has been going on in the world that used to be mine.  I definitely had my fill of sorority life, but it is still strange being out of the loop after it took up so much of my time in college. I do miss it, sometimes 😉 We met up at Tijuana Flats and I may have eaten 1 or 2 or 50 too many chips. Chips and salsa get me every time. And I looooove Tijuana Flats.

Saturday was glorious.  I went on a long walk with my sister, I swear I can feel it getting A LITTLE cooler in the air, or maybe I am just imagining it because I’m wanting it to be cooler. Whatever, it was a nice walk and the heat wasn’t so bad.

I topped off Saturday night with some Skinnygirl Sangria (it was pretty delicious) and pumpkin fluff (it was beyond delicious).

Sunday I was planning on hitting up the beach with Sean, but the weather was looking nasty, so we opted to see The Campaign instead.  It was a funny movie, but nothing that had me cracking up the entire time or anything crazy. I love Will Ferrell and Anchorman will always be my favorite.

We ate lunch at The Daily Grind, a local burger spot in Port Orange. I’m not a huge burger person, but it was so good! They had your beef burger, turkey burger, chicken burger, and black bean burger and then you could build your toppings from there. I loved that they had a variety of burger choices. Sean ordered a beef burger with cheese, bacon, fried onion rings, chipotle mayo, and sweet potato fries (I obviously helped with the fries). I opted for a slightly healthier option, a turkey burger on a salad with feta cheese and kalamata olives. Why can he eat whatever he wants and not feel gross/bad? Life is just so unfair.

Mindless Monday

Hope everyone’s Monday is off to a great start! What will you do to make this week a good one? My goal is to make a nice dinner for my fam. I have a few late nights at work this week so let’s hope it happens!

Who watched the VMAs this past week? What did you all think? Ah, it just made me love Taylor Swift even more.  I know so many people out there don’t like her for some reason or another, but I just don’t get it. How could you not love T. Swift? She always looks classy, her songs are fun, and she doesn’t care about what people think of her, oh and she’s awkward and tall too. What more could you want in a female entertainer?  I’m pretty sure if we ever got the chance to meet we would be best friends.  You my girl, T.

I also got to see Dwight Howard make an appearance on stage. Why the heck was he included in the VMAs? Maybe I’m just bitter along with the rest of Orlando 😉

I wonder what was more exciting for the fab 5, winning an Olympic gold medal or being all dolled up on stage at the VMAs. That has got to be a pretty awesome moment in a 16 year old girl’s life. They sure are living it up, I’m jealous.

I have a wild night ahead of me so I better get to that. And by wild I mean I am making pumpkin fluff (SO EXCITED) and catching up on some DVR TV. Who am I kidding? The fab 5 should be jealous of me.

Oops, I Ate Too Much

Is everyone dragging this morning like me? Hey, the good news is it’s only a four-day work week! Aren’t three day weekends just the best for so many reasons? Love ‘em! I got up bright and early this morning for a pre-work work out. It’s always tough getting up super early, but it is SO worth it knowing my work out is checked off for the day. I had some Greek Yog and multigrain Cheerios for breakfast. YUM.


This weekend involved lots of things I love, so I would say it was a great one.

1. I was out of work early Friday and it just so happened that my sister and her friend were too, so off to the mall we went! What else would we do? I was good and only bought one top.

2. I headed downtown with some friends to celebrate the weekend and the end of my first official work week.  Going downtown isn’t something I do too often so I’m glad I went and let my (frizzy) hair down a little bit ;).

3. Saturday was beyond lazy and I loved every minute of it. I complained a lot about how tired I was last week, didn’t I? It was a much needed day of relaxing.

4.  Sunday Sean, my grandparents, and a few aunts and uncles came over to the house for a little get together. I was right, I consumed a lot of food. To be exact I ate: bleu cheese croissant rolls, chicken buffalo dip, a deviled egg, Texas Caviar, salami, a burger, baked beans, corn on the cob, and a pudding parfait, OH and a glass of wine. Yes, I actually ate all that. And yes, I feel disgusted with myself after typing that all out. I’m not good at controlling myself at these types of things, what can I say? Everything always looks so good, and then I try everything and it is so good and I can’t stop. I know I can’t be the only one, someone out there please make me feel less guilty.

5. Monday was a long walk plus pumpkin iced coffee plus tanning and magazine reading plus a nice steak dinner my Madre prepared.

Mindless Monday

I hope you all are having a wonderful Labor Day and enjoying the day off, or enjoying a bit extra in your pay-check if you do have to work day! Monday’s aren’t the time for lots of mumbo-jumbo in my opinion. Everyone is usually just trying to get back into the swing of things.
